The Final Event
The final event of the LIFE Pinna project was held at the Marine Biology Station in Piran, home to the Slovenian National Institute of Biology (NIB), on September 17, 2025. After welcome remarks by Director Borut Mavrič, Marjetka Šemrl (Slovenian Ministry of the Environment), Diego Mattioli (Triton Research), and Daniela Caracciolo (ARPAL, LIFE Pinna lead partner), the technical program began.
The workshop focused on transferring protocols for restocking Pinna nobilis throughout the Mediterranean region was held. Specifically, four project researchers spoke:

The second part of the event was reserved for an international round table, moderated by Leonardo Tunesi of ISPRA, with Tina Centrih Genov (Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Conservation) participating in person, while Antonio Maturani (Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security), Vedran Nikolić (European Commission – DG Environment), and Cyrine Bouafif (SPA/RAC) connected remotely to discuss how the LIFE Pinna experience can be implemented. in concrete actions to conserve the species.
