First public event of the LIFE PINNA project

The first presentation event of the LIFE PINNA project on Friday 2 December, which was also widely followed online, came to a close.

A little over a year after its launch, this was an opportunity to take stock of the situation with all project partners, talk about the important activities of citizen science, and award the winners of the Life among the reefs photo competition. The researchers’ interventions revealed that, although in a small number of individuals, Pinna nobilis still survives in different areas of the Mediterranean.

By networking between different entities, it is therefore possible to identify the most innovative solutions to stop the extinction of this species. This is why the contributions made by the Scientific Committee, chaired by Leonardo Tunesi, with Antonio Terlizzi and Jamila Ben Souissi, and the links with other European projects dealing with similar issues, such asthe LIFE RELIFE, LIFE INTEMARES, LIFE Pinnarca,  LIFE REEForest and the INTERREG MED MPA Engage projects  were so valuable and interesting.
