In recent weeks, fieldwork has begun in Tunisia for a project closely involving Pinna nobilis: “MARHABA – Restoring marine habitats and biodiversity through a participatory approach in the Kerkennah Islands.”

This three-year initiative draws on the technical expertise gained during the LIFE Pinna project – thanks to Shoreline’s participation – and aims to combine environmental conservation, socio-economic development, and cultural valorization, promoting a sustainable and inclusive model for marine resource management.

Coordinated by the local NGO Association Kraten du Développement Durable de la Culture et du Loisir (AKDDCL), the project includes the installation of 300 artificial reefs, the transplanting of 1,000 Posidonia oceanica mats, the active involvement of 200 fishermen in conservation activities, and the creation of an educational eco-tourism circuit.

Particular emphasis is placed on collaboration between local and international entities; indeed, in addition to Shoreline, the project involves APAL, ATUTAX, MedPAN, and MedFund.
